Dear
friends, colleagues and angels,
I hope this message finds you all well. For the past year or so I have been working on my new film Carmilla. Last year I was able to finish the screenplay and show two video installations
comprising images from the first still-image sessions, thanks to grants from the City of Los Angeles. What I am trying to do this year
is to shoot a few scenes that will suggest the visual and conceptual scope of the project. And for this I need your help. I have always financed my projects ÐÐ
including
The Heart of No Place, which won the "Best Film" award at London Independent Film Festival ÐÐ with public funds. Since this is my first crowd-funding experience, I am aiming to
raise just enough to shoot and effect a few scenes. Your tax-deductible contributions will buy or rent costumes and props and
pay for my time in finishing the CG set for one scene. You can contribute as little as $1, or get special perks with contributions starting at $10,
and you can do so as many times as you'd like; I have set up the perks so you can stay connected through the
Carmilla website
and share the excitement of watching the film grow.
A few words on the campaign host
USA Projects: It's a "vetted" site,
meaning each artist on it has to have won a nationally recognized award. I am proud to join this group of extraordinary artists!
USA Projects has also made it easier for international supporters. If you prefer to donate by check or wire transfer, you can go to
this page
to fill out a simple form.
So please take a look at this video, which tells you WHY I am making a vampire movie.
Check out the Carmilla page at USA Projects and start buying your titles! Please note it takes only $50 to become a Count/CountessÉ If you cannot donate today, you can help by spreading the word ÐÐ there are easy "Share This Page" links on the site. Thank youÉ You are making the world a better place for artists and feminist-peacenik vampires!
Yours truly,
